Our focus is on producing premium wines from top quality Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz fruit.
Our grapes are sold to premium labels and in the best vintage years in the Coonawarra we select special parcels of fruit to be made for the Bundalong label.
Our first small Cabernet Sauvignon bottlings were undertaken in 1994 and 1996. Then in 2008 and 2012 we produced a limited quantity of cabernet sauvignon from selected premium grapes.
Our current vintage is 2014. It was a year when the grapes ripened early but the flavours were slower to develop so we left the grapes on the vine until late in the season. We were one of the last to pick and the gamble paid off. We are generally keen to have a long hang time so the fruit gains the intensity of flavours and tannin ripeness. It has turned out to be a great vintage and our patience has been rewarded with great depth in character and flavour.
James Halliday, has rated our 2008 wines with 94 points, and 2012 with 95 points and the 2014 with 94 points.
The 2014 single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon was made by Peter Bissell, Chief Winemaker at Balnaves of Coonawarra. It was aged in French oak barriques for 18 months and bottled in a premium punted claret bottle. The wine shows intense cassis flavours and fine structure. This is an elegant wine which will reward cellaring.
Given the limited supply and premium nature of the 2014 wine we reserve the right to limit the number of cases ordered.
